GALLOP 1
Lot 125 Que Bonita Filly Stronghold ex Perfect Lady
Very much a Muhtafal in her makeup, a little pocket rocket, she’ll kick off the gallops in style. Let’s not forget, the best ratings agency in the world rated Stronghold the best Handicapper in Europe in his year. This is the first crop of the son of Danehill, and we must remember, there is a plethora of great stallions by Danehill around the world; think Redoute’s Choice, Danehill Dancer, Dansili, Rock of Gibraltar etc.
Lot 21 Unnamed Filly Kahal ex Coastal Relative
Classically-bred filly from a family that gets them to go a distance of ground. The family has always taken a little time, and this filly is no exception, but as you will know from her gallop, she has it in her to emulate the better ones in her pedigree.
Lot 11 Marry Me Mullins Filly Mullins Bay ex Bridal Paths
Daughter of an unbeaten two year old who had the distinction of winning the Golden Slipper the last time it was a Group Two (now a Group One, as you know). She has the pedigree to be good, and she’s by the new sire of the moment. She gets those legs up and covers an extra yard every time she puts them down.
Lot 72 Getagrip Filly Stronghold ex Hot Reception
First foal of a Group-winning mare from a great family, she’s as powerful as her mother, and has much the same style at the same stage. You’d expect her to move well as a granddaughter of Danehill, and she did that with purpose in her trial on Saturday.
Lot 32 Hard To Resist Filly Muhtafal ex Diligence
Classically-bred filly from a family that gets them to go a distance of ground. The family has always taken a little time, and this filly is no exception, but as you will know from her gallop, she has it in her to emulate the better ones in her pedigree.

GALLOP 2
Lot 5 Brainstorm Filly Way West ex Best Behaviour
Way West is the sire of two Group One-performing fillies from his first two small crops, His better ones all have good motors, and a nice racey outlook and this filly fits the same bill. Gets along nicely with a big snappy stride, and encouragingly, she has good size on her.
Lot 120 Oriental Princess Filly Kahal ex Oriental Queen
This filly improves with each work out. The family is generally pretty small, yet this is a fair sized individual with more flair than her multiple winning siblings at the same stage.
Lot 51 Dukuduku Filly Muhtafal ex Fragrant Forest
Typical Muhtafal, she skips along at a merry pace. Her mother is a daughter of Fort Wood and won five races, so you can expect this one to keep improving.
Lot 44 Highway Eightyfive Filly Kahal ex Especially
We all know that Argentina’s best family is the one that begins with “E”, and this “E” is especially worth watching. We like surprises, like everyone else, and this filly’s been surprising us in the past month. She took time to get into the groove, but Saturday’s trial gave us hope she’ll turn it on for Friday.
Lot 142 Scarletto Filly Stronghold ex Scarlet Ribbon
Big, workmanlike filly, she’s been taking her time until her trial on Saturday, when she put it together for us. Despite being the best handicapper in Europe, Stronghold was not a two year old, and so you’d not expect too much from his stock at this stage, but she’s surprised us with the rapidity with which she has advanced. Worth remembering the great success which Danehill enjoyed on Northern Dancer-line mares; this is the cross.

GALLOP 4
Lot 2 Miss Africa Filly Stronghold ex Beauty Queen
Big, scopey filly. A touch immature still, but she gallops well and suggests she has plenty of improvement in her. Ignore this family at your peril. The late Laurie Jaffee had lots of fun with it.
Lot 33 Still Dreaming Filly Mullins Bay ex Dream Maker
Good actioned filly, she’s come on a ton in the past month. This family’s produced two European Group One winners this year, the English Oaks winner Dancing Rain, and the Moyglare Stud Stakes heroine, Maybe, so it’s on the move, as is her half-sister, Catchechuchu.
Lot 27 Congregation Filly Kahal ex Dahlia’s Guest
Another bred on the astonishingly successful Kahal/Northern Guest cross, she’s an easygoing elastic-actioned filly, who keeps on progressing. Own sister to DG’s Boy, a decent sort with Ormond Ferraris.
Lot 65 Negev Filly Stronghold ex Haifaa
Quite a bit bigger than her Group One-performing half-sister Extra Zero (top rated entry for Sean Tarry in the Emperors Palace Ready To Run Cup), she’s an altogether stronger individual, and she gave us a grand trial on Saturday
Lot 43 Orlando Magic Filly Mullins Bay ex Entice The Gold
Big athletic filly, she covers ground as her sire did, and she’ll make a decent middle distance sort on her pedigree. Rakes the daisies.

GALLOP 5
Lot 50 Leila Filly Muhtafal ex Forest Edge
Half-sister to the Group One performer Lisa Anne. She’s a compact, typical Muhtafal type, with a lovely low action, and she’s got gears, as you’d expect from this breeding. Someone could get lucky.
Lot 181 Viva La Vie Filly Kahal ex Anouk Aimee
Another bred on the celebrated Kahal/Northern Guest cross, you can see what’s made it famous when you see this filly gallop. She has a big easy stride on her and a quick response to the button.
Lot 179 Babazeka Filly Ravishing ex Ama De Casa
From the first crop of the best son at stud of the best South African sire of all-time, this one comes from a distinguished international family and a sister to multiple Group winner, Bhekinkhosi. Just like her sire, she has scope and class, and while a little immature, she’s going to represent value.
Lot 132 Dalalaat Filly Stronghold ex Qusoor
Sweet filly, she’s a touch on the immature side, but she’s learning the ropes quickly, and one more gallop and she should be on the mark by Friday. A little behind the rest at the moment.
Lot 93 Galliana Filly Mullins Bay ex London Fair
Well made, well grown filly, she has the typical flowing action of her sire. They all cover ground, and they do it easily.

GALLOP 6
Lot 155 Summer Strike Filly Strike Smartly ex Summer Style
Smallish neat filly, she’s quite racy, and as the Strike Smartlys are, she’s a bit of a Janey-come-lately. She has a nice low action, and a good economical way of going. Should get a trip.
Lot 100 Divine Grace Filly Mullins Bay ex Maroof’s Grace
Well grown filly from a tiny mare, she’s a sister to Superfederation. In keeping with the Mullins Bays as we know them, she has a lovely big action on her, and gets along. Quite a bit better than her well performed brother did at the same stage.
Lot 101 Stormy Cat Filly Thunder Gulch ex Marsh Cat
By champion American sire out of a daughter of one of the great American sires of all time, Storm Cat. This filly is typical of her sire’s stock. She is compact, strongly built, with a nice laid-back nature. A little behind the others, but she’s all there.
Lot 58 Guided Arrow Filly Muhtafal ex Golden Arrow
Well grown, substantial sort, she has a beautiful low action on her, so typical of her sire’s stock. She has a bit of gas, too.
Lot 149 Lady Muffet Filly Kahal ex Spider Spider
Scopey, well-grown filly, with a lovely low action, she has a huge stride on her, and will impress more than a few on Friday.

GALLOP 8
Lot 154 Sightseer Filly Kahal ex Summer Guest
Top sire of Group One-winning fillies, (think Bold Ellinore, Chocolicious, Spiced Gold and Noble Heir), this one is quite typical of his better stock. She is very well balanced, stands over ground and moves like a classic filly, which you would expect from a Badger Land mare.
Lot 9 Silver Sands Filly Mullins Bay ex Blue
Well grown filly, she has a big rolling stride, and you can count on this one to produce on Friday.
Lot 141 Penelope Crush Filly Stronghold ex Scarlet Fever
Nicely balanced, well-made filly, she gets along in a good workmanlike fashion, and you can rely on her for Friday.
Lot 172 Dashing Queen Filly Ravishing ex Western Flash
Strongly made filly from a great Highlands family, she comes from the first crop of the best son at stud of the best South African stallion of all-time. She’s still a bit green, but she has an engine and gets down nice and low.
Lot 107 Tinchy Stryder Filly Mullins Bay ex Model K
Three quarter sister to the top Joburg filly, Mannequin, who’s picked up R500 000 for Paul Matchett (not bad for an R80 000 purchase). This is a bigger individual than her sister was at the same stage, and she has a nice big, loping stride on her; could be pretty smart.

GALLOP 9
Lot 171 Here We Are Filly Muhtafal ex West Coast Way
Beautifully bred filly, she’s come from nowhere to develop a nice action, and while she was late to get going, she’s getting better with each work. Value for a fellow with an eye on the future.
Lot 78 Unnamed Filly Kahal ex Incremental
Bred on the famous Kahal/Northern Guest cross, which has produced Bold Ellinore, Emperor Napoleon, Bhekinkhosi, Art of War, Galant Gagnant and The Mousketeer, among the numerous others. This is a smart, racey filly, with bags of potential. Progressing very nicely for a late foal (Nov 15th).
Lot 77 Stylish Bay Filly Mullins Bay ex In Style
Three quarter sister to top Joburg galloper Smanjemanje, another filly who’s deceptively quick for one still quite immature. Let’s not forget, Mike de Kock was the man who said Mullins Bay could’ve won a Group One anywhere, any day of the week, and who was deceptively quick. They only have to take after their Dad, in other words.
Lot 37 Stone Town Filly Stronghold ex East Africa
Go to Argentina, and they’ll pay you a king’s ransom for a Candy Stripes mare. We’ve been waiting for this one to deliver, and this Stronghold filly could be the goods. Let’s not forget, the Cataloochess are exactly that right now: “shoo shoo”.
Lot 31 Wishful To Reality Filly Kahal ex Deal A Double
By the leading sire of the present season from a family full of top performers, she’s just the second foal from a talented race filly. She gets along very nicely, and reminds us of the Bold Ellinore type.

GALLOP 10
Lot 4 Mrs. Ching Filly Stronghold ex Bellucci
The old saying that dynamite comes in small packages is as appropriate here, as it is anywhere. This is a compact, strongly built filly, and she looks like she will scoot.
Lot 8 Breeze By Filly Victory Moon ex Blowing Free
The only Victory Moon filly in the sale, she’s an athletic, latish sort with a big rolling action. Remember Princess Victoria.
Lot 55 Khanya Filly Kahal ex Glitz
Big, scopey filly with just as big an action, she’s another in the Bold Ellinore mould.
Lot 152 Flashing Star Filly Muhtafal ex Starry-Eyed
Full sister to Moet Magic, an aspirant candidate for the R2 million Emperors Palace Ready To Run Cup on the 5th November for Sean Tarry. She has a lovely low action on her, and, in the view of our team, a slightly more athletic type than her full sister was at the same stage. She has the scope to be decent.
Lot 84 Elegant Bay Filly Mullins Bay ex Kali Dancer
Nice big, well grown filly, she has a lovely, flowing stride on her, so typical of her sire and his stock. They’ll be happy with her, come Friday.

GALLOP 13
Lot 19 Golden Dynasty Filly Mullins Bay Ex Class Will Sell
She has the pedigree to be decent, and like all the Mullins Bays, she has a very appealing way of moving. Nice scopey, classy individual.
Lot 81 River Tyne Filly Stronghold ex Jordie
As much like her father as anything in the string, so it’s worth remembering, he was by Danehill, and he was Europe’s Champion Handicapper. A discerning buyer could have some fun for a relatively modest sum.
Lot 94 Reap The Rewards Filly Kahal ex Longfields
From the family of Gomma Gomma hero, Pick Six, and a half-sister to the unbeaten Golden Slipper winning juvenile, Bridal Paths, she’s flying for a November foal. One for the notebook: looking for a partner? Call the champions.
Lot 144 Roaring Water Filly Mullins Bay ex Shirley Singer
Sister to the past weekend’s winner Umhlamba, this one’s got a real engine in the back. You wouldn’t expect a  Mullins Bay to be as precocious as this one is, but she has the scope to keep improving, and she shouldn’t be long in getting to the races.
Lot 166 Velvet Lady Filly Macho Uno ex Velvet Touch
Neat, racy type by the sire of this year’s Kentucky Derby placed, Mucho Macho Man (from his first crop). A snappy, enthusiastic filly with a rare pedigree.

GALLOP 16
Lot 69 Holdontight Colt Stronghold ex Hello Gorgeous
Compact, solid type, he was doing his best work at the end of his trial, which is an encouraging sign for a horse that’s only learning the ropes.
Lot 45 Exceptional Filly El Prado ex Exact
Not quite as advanced as the other two El Prados, but she has the typical low action which seems to be the signature of his tribe. Let’s not forget, he is a son of Sadler’s Wells, was a champion sire in America, and is already producing his own very successful sons at stud.
Lot 83 Rum Tum Tugger Colt Kahal ex Jumping Jaguar
Has a sister with a prospect of lining up for the R2 million Emperors Palace Ready To Run CuP in Ikati. Wherever Ikati was at this time last year, this one’s showing more. He has a lovely low action, and he gets on with it.
Lot 25 Celtic Warrior Colt Stronghold ex County Mayo

We wondered at one time whether this fellow would get to the gallops as he was rather late in coming to hand, but he has developed a powerful, workmanlike way of going, and if he keeps on improving the way he has, he will be spot-on for Friday.

Lot 38 Men And Mountains Colt Muhtafal ex Eiger
Let’s not forget, two Muhtafals, Blue Voyager and Mr. Mickey Mouse, lowered the colours of Link Man in Group races last season, and this is a very typical son of the stallion from a respectably bred mare by Fort Wood. He works with the purpose you’d expect the Muhtafals to, and he’s likely to be there still when he’s five years old.

GALLOP 21
Lot 180 Duke Of Medina Colt Rock of Gibraltar ex Amah Dramas
For a late foal, he’s well grown, and nicely developed. A reminder about Rock Of Gibraltar, three Group One winners this year and sixteen Group winners all told. This fellow has grown into an exceptionally nice horse, and he has a V8 in his backside.
Lot 135 White Tiger Colt Tiger Ridge ex Refined Gold
Nice strong colt, he really gets on with it in the way you’d expect the Tiger Ridges to, and there’ll be plenty to like on the day.
Lot 134 Patriotic Rebel Colt Stronghold ex Rebel Qui
Stronghold was Timeform’s European Champion Handicapper of the Year, and we must never forget, he was by the incomparable Danehill. This colt is a brother to a number of top runners, Rebel Patriot, Ravenscraig and Rebellious Streak, and he’s about as decent as any of them.
Lot 111 Gothic Colt Silvano ex Mysterious Land
Nice scopey, well grown colt, has a Classic look about him, he’s surprisingly forward for a Silvano. Lovely low action, likely to kick a bit of butt!!
Lot 123 Agadez Colt Kahal ex Paris To Dakar
Carries the famous Kahal/Northern Guest cross most recently advertised by The Mousketeer’s exertions in the Emerald Cup. This is a big scopey colt, a lovely middle distance type with surprising speed. A really nice horse.

GALLOP 22
Lot 18 Norman Conquest Colt Rock Of Gibraltar ex Chanteloup
Lovely strongly made colt, he’s one of the stand-outs in the draft. Correct, easy going sort, and when he gets down to it, you can see why his sire was such a great performer. Dam’s brother, Border Arrow, earned a Timeform rating of 126, placing him in the top ½ % of racehorses worldwide.
Lot 139 Red Rover Colt Victory Moon ex Rosella
Nice scopey colt, his father’s come well at the right time, producing this years Champion Juvenile filly, Princess Victoria. For a horse that looks like he might have a bit of a trip in him, he has a nice snappy low action.
Lot 176 The Italian Job Colt Street Sense ex Albanella
One of the stars of the day. Big scopey horse, very similar to his father. Has a big raking stride, and carries it at a proper lick. Remember, his father is the only horse in history to win the Breeders Cup Juvenile and the Kentucky Derby, and is off to a massive start at stud. They’ve sold up to $600 000 recently at Keeneland, and more of them came from the family of Galileo and Sea The Stars, as this one does.
Lot 184 Noble Star Colt Kahal ex Arabian Magic
Smart colt gets on with it. Has the pedigree to be decent. Property of a King, so this is your chance to be associated with royalty.
Lot 183 Arabian Bay Colt Mullins Bay ex Arabian Charm
An impressive sharp individual. Beautifully balanced, he strikes you with a lovely light action. Check out the pedigree, and stick him in the notebook.

GALLOP 23
Lot 169 The Mutineer Colt Mullins Bay ex Wanted
Big strong, imposing colt, we can’t say enough about the Mullins Bays. He has a big stride on him, and cuts the lawn. He’s the family to be good.
Lot 62 Bingelela Colt Cataloochee ex Greet The Greek
His mum was a midget, but she was the best daughter her sire ever produced. This is a “mini” battleship, with a turbo charger in the back. Has the capacity to destroy.
Lot 34 Cookie Monster Colt Kahal ex Dream Starling
We don’t want to sound like a stuck record, but this is the famous Kahal/Northern Guest cross which produced Emperor Napoleon, Bold Ellinore, Bhekinkhosi, Art of War, Galant Gagnant and the Emerald Cup winner, The Mouseketeer, among many others. This is a lovely big, well-grown colt, and he could be just anything. He has the makings of a proper horse.
Lot 167 Bay Musar Colt Mullins Bay ex Verve Cliquot
Half-brother to Strelitizia Stakes winner, Thekkady, he’s a grand mover, and he gets a move on. Remember the Kahal cross with Northern Guest? This is a replication, as Mullins Bay is by Machiavellian, like Kahal.
Lot 13 Gee And Tee Colt Muhtafal ex Campari
Well grown for a Muhtafal, he has good scope and a nice low action. Has grown into a decent sort, and will have his admirers after Friday. Half brother, Tony’s Tipple is making a bold bid for the Emperors Palace Ready To Run Cup.

Big burly brute, has a V8 in his bottom, and he uses it. He has a nice low action, real value proposition for someone.
Lot 49 Operation Neptune Colt Mullins Bay ex Foo Fighter
Well grown colt, he has the stride of the tribe, and a deep reservoir of improvement. Looking for value? Don’t say we didn’t mention him.
Lot 14 Buffalo Run Colt Kahal ex Cariad
Famous cross of Kahal on a Northern Guest mare, exemplified in this colt’s own brother, Art Of War, who won three races in a single season at the Carnival in Dubai. This is a bigger, stronger individual than Art Of War at the same stage, and he’s got a Mike de Kock sticker on his hip.
Lot 10 Robin Island Colt Mullins Bay ex Blue Yonder
Half-brother to Link Man’s vanquisher, Blue Voyager, he’s another big, scopey colt with a lovely elastic way of going.

GALLOP 25
Lot 79 Bright And Blue Colt Mullins Bay ex Jibe
As fluent an action as you’ll see all day, he replicates the Kahal cross on Northern Guest through his sire, who is also a son of Machiavellian. Scopey, easy moving colt, he has the style to be a decent horse.
Lot 85 Stavinsky Colt Stage Call ex Katrinsky
Typical Sadler’s Wells type, he moves well, and whilst more of a staying sort, he shows encouraging signs for a youngster that’s only just realised his job is a racehorse.
Lot 133 The Barbadian Colt Mullins Bay ex Rambo’s Gem
As imposing an individual as you’ll find on the sale, he has the beautiful low action we’ve come to expect from his sire’s progeny. While he missed quite a bit of work with an injury, he will please many people at the gallops.
Lot 131 Mulaazem Colt Kahal ex Qawaafil
Fair sort, he’s still a work-in-progress. He has a nice stride on him, and like the Kahals can, he has the potential to improve.
Lot 165 The Big League Colt Mullins Bay ex Valkyrie Queen
A really attractive sort. Well balanced individual like most of his mother’s progeny, a lovely free mover, likely to be one of Mullins Bay’s earliest. Remember what Mike de Kock said of Mullins Bay, “a Group One winner anywhere, and deceptively quick”.
