GALLOP 14
Lot 71 Hope Forever Filly El Prado ex Hopeitsadiamond
We don’t ever recall seeing El Prados on offer in South Africa, so this is a rare opportunity to buy the daughter of an American champion sire. A solidly made individual with a great racing action and plenty of speed. El Prado already has a highly successful son at stud in the second season sire, Kitten’s Joy in the United States, who had another two Graded Stakes winners at the weekend.
Lot 17 Nandi Filly Danehill Dancer ex Celtic Queen
By one of the best sires in Europe, from the daughter of one of the greatest stallions in history. She has a full sister in Queen Mira in this country, who already has the distinction of finishing 2nd and 3rd to Igugu in Group company, and this filly has the credentials to go all the way. She’s already shown us the speed of a motor car, and she’ll gallop with great purpose.
Lot 42 Emaliyami Filly Rock Of Gibraltar ex Elusive Kash
Nicely made filly, you ignore the Rock Of Gibraltars at your peril. He is one of the world’s best stallions, and while this filly got going late, she is progressing nicely now.
Lot 117 Sweet Destiny Filly Var ex Nutella
Well grown filly, she covers ground at the gallop. Gets down nice and low, and runs to the line.
Lot 162 Critical Mind Filly Johannesburg ex Tough City
Big immature sort, from the family of local champion, Candy Critic. Has a nice stride on her, and while she hasn’t been asked too many questions, you can see the potential.

GALLOP 15
Lot 109 My Argentine Lady Filly El Prado ex My American Lady
Big strong filly, she really gets on with it. Her father is a champion sire in the United States (by Sadler’s Wells), and there won’t have been too many of these on offer in the southern hemisphere, bred to our time. A rare find.
Lot 97 Dylan’s Promise Filly Dylan Thomas ex Madonna
Lovely scopey, filly very much in the mould of her world champion sire; she has a big, rolling action, and should have plenty of admirers. A rare individual, even in this draft of 19 foreign-bred horses.
Lot 89 Ilha Da Rock Filly Rock Of Gibraltar ex Les Ry Leigh
Really nice athletic filly, her sire has produced sixteen Group winners this season. South Africans already know Rock Of Gibraltar very well through the exploits of Mike de Kock’s top runners, Gibraltar Blue and Perhana as well as Charles Laird’s Seventh Rock, and this filly needs no advertising. She has talent, she’s got a pedigree, and she can motor.
Lot 41 Nkandla Filly Forestry ex Elusiv Lady In Red
One of the stars of the show. She’s magnificently bred, beautifully made, and has plenty of class. Her sire produced the Preakness winner (second leg of the American Triple Crown) Shackleford this year, and is the sire amongst others of world champion miler, Discreet Cat. There won’t be too many horses offered in South Africa with a pedigree like this, anywhere.
Lot 92 Layette Filly Giacomo ex Lochmaddy
Natty filly, she’s a daughter of a Kentucky Derby winner, and has a nice low action with more pace than you’d expect from her pedigree at this stage. Her sire produced American track record setter, Jake Mo, this past weekend.

GALLOP 16
Lot 69 Holdontight Colt Stronghold ex Hello Gorgeous
Compact, solid type, he was doing his best work at the end of his trial, which is an encouraging sign for a horse that’s only learning the ropes.
Lot 45 Exceptional Filly El Prado ex Exact
Not quite as advanced as the other two El Prados, but she has the typical low action which seems to be the signature of his tribe. Let’s not forget, he is a son of Sadler’s Wells, was a champion sire in America, and is already producing his own very successful sons at stud.
Lot 83 Rum Tum Tugger Colt Kahal ex Jumping Jaguar
Has a sister with a prospect of lining up for the R2 million Emperors Palace Ready To Run CuP in Ikati. Wherever Ikati was at this time last year, this one’s showing more. He has a lovely low action, and he gets on with it.
Lot 25 Celtic Warrior Colt Stronghold ex County Mayo

We wondered at one time whether this fellow would get to the gallops as he was rather late in coming to hand, but he has developed a powerful, workmanlike way of going, and if he keeps on improving the way he has, he will be spot-on for Friday.

Lot 38 Men And Mountains Colt Muhtafal ex Eiger
Let’s not forget, two Muhtafals, Blue Voyager and Mr. Mickey Mouse, lowered the colours of Link Man in Group races last season, and this is a very typical son of the stallion from a respectably bred mare by Fort Wood. He works with the purpose you’d expect the Muhtafals to, and he’s likely to be there still when he’s five years old.
