On Sunday at Turffontein the Alexander stable’s hopefuls for the R1 250 000 Emperors Palace Ready to Run Cup were out in force.
In the first race of the day Burn Up (Russian Revival/Passionate Love) had a promising debut run to finish 4th under Mark Khan at a distance short of his best and Mark Khan feels that this is a Derby horse in the making. Burn Up has a sister by Requiem on the Ready to Run sale who is working exceptionally well and is worth taking note of.
In the next race Fenerbahce (Kahal/Shoe Dance), also piloted by Mark Kahn, cruised home lengths clear of his field on just his second start. He was a worthy favourite and won in a fashion that suggested we will be seeing a lot more of this imposing son of Kahal in the future. He has a full sister on this year’s sale who is a lovely big scopey individual with a good action.
The General (Muhtafal/Roman Dream) was an eye catching winner on his first start last month. Yesterday, he started favourite and took up the running soon after turning for home, but was caught by the older more experienced Sandown Bay. A good effort from this speedy son of Muhtafal and I’m sure the stable will have him fine tuned for the Emperors Palace Ready to Run Cup come 1st November. The General has a sister by Malhub on the sale.
