GALILEO's Relentless March

The European Sire’s Championship has become one-way traffic for SADLER’S WELLS’ best racing son, GALILEO. While he never needed NEW APPROACH’s commanding victory in Saturday’s Champion Stakes in England, simply put, it was the cherry on the top of an impressive season, anointing a new heir to the greatest stallion in European history in the process. While GALILEO has a long way to go to emulate his illustrious father’s fourteen Sires’ Championships, he has to start somewhere, and as the number one sire of Group One winners worldwide this season, he’s off to a pretty convincing start.
Astonishingly, the Summerhill Ready to Run draft has its own unique play on this development, in-as-much as it includes no fewer than three GALILEOS among it’s number. While that in itself is remarkable enough, given our location, its greater significance rests in the fact that these are the last three progeny of the European Champion elect, ever to be offered at public auction. There will be no more, not even in Australia where these were conceived, as GALILEO ceased shuttling to that part of the world some seasons back.
