Summerhill Ready To Run graduate, Igugu, will have her first run in KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday when she lines up in the Grade 1 Woolavington 2000 over 2000m at Greyville.
Jack Milner writes for Tab Online that the appearance of the Triple Tiara Queen has unfortunately scared off much of the opposition and only seven runners are prepared to tackle Mike de Kock’s star filly. According to the merit ratings, the main challenger looks to be Justin Snaith’s Emerald Cove but the daughter of Captain Al has already been thumped once by Igugu, and that was in the Cape Fillies Guineas at Kenilworth in which Emerald Cove finished 5.50 lengths behind the Gauteng filly.
All of Berry Blaze, Las Ramblas and Cherry On The Cake have been victims of Igugu and can have little chance of reversing the placings.

The Daily News 2000, however, is far more competitive and that sees Grade 1 SA Classic champion English Garden taking on some decent opposition.
In the field are J&B Met third-placed Run For It, Dingaans winner The Apache, and dual Guineas champion Solo Traveller.
According to Gold Circle, Greg Ennion is also expecting a decent run from Mystic Moon.
The Politician Stakes winner and Investec Cape Derby fourth was one of those for whom Friday the 13th proved unlucky in the KRA Guineas at Greyville last time. Ennion said: “He was right next to Ridethebreeze when that horse took out almost half the field. It was Mystic Moon’s first time at Greyville and his first time under lights. Karl Neisius told me that the horse got such a fright that he slammed on the brakes. But he has been doing very well in Durban and he has the No 1 one draw on Saturday.”
Marthinus Mienie takes the mount as Neisius will be on English Garden, but Mystic Moon has gone out from 50-1 to 100-1 for the Vodacom Durban July as a result of the Greyville debacle.
English Garden will have to jump from barrier No 12 but that might not be too much of a concern for Mike Bass’ runner over this trip.
