UK SOCCER 6 GRADUATION PLATE 1400m
SCOTTSVILLE RACECOURSE
13 JANUARY 2010

Touted as favourite for Wednesday’s UK Soccer 6 Graduation Plate over 1400m at Scottsville, Mahubo had everything to do starting from gate 12.

In a performance reminiscent of his half brother Imbongi, Mahubo jumped from the poor draw and was running five wide at the 100m marker. The Ready To Run graduate put in a solid effort throughout the trip and hit the straight in the thick of things before fighting to the line to take a gutsy win under jockey Raymond Danielson.

Bred by Summerhill Stud, the son of National Emblem out of the Foveros mare Garden Verse, has 2 wins and 5 places from 7 starts and looks to be improving with every run.

Congratulation to trainer Herman Brown Jnr, assistant trainer Frank Robinson and owner Mrs Fitri Hay.

DYNAMITE MIKE aims at Dubai, with Herman Brown

Dynamite Mike (John Lewis)

Summerhill-bred Dynamite Mike has joined Herman Brown at his Summerveld stables. The KZN Guineas winner was purchased  by one of his shareholders, Ravi Padayachee and now races in the colours of  Mrs S Padayachee.

SA Horseracing reports after speaking to assistant trainer Frank Robinson about the move; “He’s been with us for some time now and we are running him on Sunday. He is working very well and has already beaten Jay Peg in the Guineas last year, so the form is there.”

“The ultimate aim is to send him to Dubai,” said Frank Robinson.

Dynamite Mike shot to prominence when he beat a quality field in the KZN Guineas last year. He is a six time winner but hasn’t reached the heights of his 3 year old career. However, although he has only won once since the Guineas, he hasn’t run too many bad races subsequent to that effort, especially if one considers that he has run in group company. He was formerly trained by Mike Azzie.
