EMPERORS PALACE NATIONAL YEARLING SALE
TBA Sales Complex, Gosforth Park, Germiston
27 - 29 April 2012
DAY 1 SUMMARY
Day One of the 2012 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale saw the figures drop from those of last year. The aggregate for day one fell from R48,675,000 to R42,975,000, although the overall average price remained steady, dropping from R249,615 to R240,084. The aggregate decrease was without question gravely influenced by the newly implemented vendor buy back rules.
With arguably a stronger bunch of horses appearing in the sale’s second day, these prices could yet change for the better and there is still reason for positivity for the sale’s overall performance.
TBA CEO Jan Naude was philosophical about the results of the sale’s initial day, saying, “The return price was down by R6 million - a result largely due to new vendor buy back scheme. It was reassuring to see the average price remain fairly steady, and I think vendors can be optimistic about Sunday’s results.”
