As prolific a getter of winners as there is anywhere, Australian champion stallion More Than Ready was represented by his 1,000th winner this week.
Sire of Dr Jim Hay’s tough-as-teak Traffic Guard (who’s had a solid first season at Summerhill in 2012), More Than Ready has thus far produced 107 Stakes winners, including 11 at the highest level, with a winning strike rate of a remarkable 71.8%; there are not too many stallions anywhere who can match him, and with Traffic Guard and Gimmethegreenlight as pioneers of this valuable line, we’d have to be optimistic that one or both of them will bring their own fresh dimension to the local gene pool.
