GIGGS STEPS UP FOR SOLSKJAER

The arrival of a new stallion on a stud farm always stirs the emotions. A good bull is half the herd, and a bad bull is the whole herd, so your destiny can be made (or broken,) by the outcomes.

This country, for some inexplicable reason had neglected the blood of the most influential “world” stallion of all time. Danehill remains the only sire in history to have garnered Championships in both hemispheres, and he was “made” for South Africa.

When the chance came to acquire a totem son of the “masterpiece,” we grabbed it with our old mate, Dr. Barry Clements. Named for the best footballer at Manchester United at a time when his owners had a controlling interest in the club, Solskjaer, the horse, was obviously telling his trainer something. And when he delivered Group race glory on just his third lifetime start, the best trainer in Europe proclaimed him an “amazing horse,” whom he rated a “superstar”.

No-one at Summerhill, was surprised then, when Solskjaer produced South Africa’s top priced yearling filly at his debut National Sale, and Monday he delivered again (bred by a past member of the Summerhill staff, Lorraine de Klerk and husband Koos). Giggs stood up at the Vaal, and said “I’m ready to be counted,” becoming her father’s first winner.

There's room for debate whether Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was the BEST footballer of his time at Man United. After all , he was a contemporary of Cantona, Beckham, Keane & others including Schmeichel, that prince of goalkeepers. But that he was a very good player who scored more than his fair share of goals admits of no doubt.
But what an excellent name for a son of SOLSKJAER is Giggs; for there can be no doubt or debate about the standing of Ryan Giggs in the pantheon of Man. U. stars. He's not playing at the moment because of a broken arm, but otherwise, at the age of 36, he is still a valuable & valued member of the Man. U.first team. Incidentally, he recently broke Sir Bobby Charlton's long-standing record for the most appearances in that team.
I know that this blog is really about horses & breeding, but you have actually provoked this Man. U. fan into responding to your frequently repeated claims about Ole Gunnar's supremacy in his time at the BEST of football Clubs.
And if that doesn't provoke some misguided Arsenal, Liverpool or Chelsea fan to respond, I'd be very surprised.
