GOODBYE TO A GRAND OLD DAME

I know a few days have passed since we said goodbye to Mum, but they’ve been good days principally because of the extraordinary support and the good wishes we’ve had from people across the world. It’s an amazing thing, death, for its ability to inflict such pain and yet, in the case of this grand old dame, it has evoked such pleasure as well.
People came in their hordes to pay their respects, and she would’ve been tickled to know that there were two Kings, especially these two, “our” Kings, their Majesties King Letsie III of Lesotho, and King Mpondambini and his gracious Queen Ndlunkulu of Pondoland (a daughter, incidentally, of the late great King Sobhuza of Swaziland). What sacrifices people made to be there, and what distances they travelled.
The one thing they all had in common was a recollection of a person so vital, so dynamic and so incorrigible, and so we’ve moved on from there, and we’re at peace with the thought that this was a life exceptionally well lived.
