The Keeneland January Horses Of All Ages sale in Lexington yesterday witnessed the $950,000 purchase of multiple US Grade 1 winner, Island Fashion, by Katsumi Yoshida’s Northern Farm.
The nine-year-old grey, by Petionville (Seeking The Gold) out of Danzigs Fashion (A Native Danzig), is in foal off an April 8 cover to Ghostzapper (Awesome Again) and was consigned by Pope McLean’s Crestwood Farm as part of the Everest Stables reduction sales.
Island Fashion earned $2,037,970 during her racing career which included five graded race wins. At three, she won the 2003 Alabama Stakes (Gr1) and the La Brea Stakes (Gr1), then at four she added the 2004 Santa Monica Handicap (Gr1) as well as placing second to the colts in the 2004 Santa Anita Handicap (Gr1).
Island Fashion’s first foal is a yearling filly by Storm Cat (Storm Bird).
