DR. TOMMY FOULKES... a Blast from the Past.

We were delighted to hear from a doyen of the breeding industry after he received the Summerhill brochure last week. Dr.Tommy Foulkes whom we remember as one of the country’s leading breeders of his era, and off-hand, as producer of horses of the class of Aquanaut and Enforce, called to tell us of his admiration of the new sires in brochure, and to chew the fat generally.
His choice of the stallions, (and coming from him, we should sit up and take notice,) were Ravishing, Cataloochee and Stronghold, a strong vote for the South Africans, if ever there was one.
Tommy, who’s now closing on 80, was the founder with his ex wife, Veronica, of the Normandy Stud, since renowned for some exceptional racehorses, including Horse Of The Year in 2005, Winter Solstice.
