This Evening's Epic : Gathering of the Titans

Our earlier piece on the field for this evening’s Drill Hall Stakes at the Greyville circuit, labelled it a case of “David and Goliath”. The reality is, it’s much more than that, as it brings together what is arguably the strongest field ever assembled for the race.

Among them are four previous Champions, in POCKET POWER, FLOATYOURBOAT, BOLD ELLINORE and REBEL KING. While IMBONGI is an aspiring champion in his own right, and while the winner is likely to come from those mentioned, it’s by no means a settled issue. We are reminded here of a previous renewal in which the Summerhill-owned filly, REAL RED took on the giants of her era, Horse of the Year WINTER SOLSTICE and the J & B Met winner ALISTOR. Flying at the death, she got up to split the two of them on the post, and a stride past it, and she was the winner.

Everything tonight points to a memorable finish, and you can be sure every last him (or her) at Summerhill will be glued to their TV screens come 20h55 tonight.
