GALILEO makes it a Group Double

Yesterday’s two Gr.3 races both went to daughters of Coolmore’s Galileo. At York, the Jim Bolger raider Lush Lashes was an impressive five length winner of the Gr.3 Musidora Stakes. She was made favourite for the English Oaks after the race, but her trainer revealed that the Irish Oaks is also under consideration for the filly, whom he purchased for E80,000 at the Goffs Million Sale from the consignment of Mount Coote Stud. Her victory continued a great run for Mount Coote, who also bred last week’s Gr.3 Huxley Stakes scorer Championship Point (Lomitas) and Sunday’s Gr.3 Amethyst Stakes winner Ferneley (Ishiguru).

The Aidan O’Brien-trained Adored completed Galileo’s Group double with a front-running success in last night’s Gr.3 Blue Wind Stakes at Naas on just her fourth start.

This was splendid news for Emperor’s Palace Ready to Run watchers, as Summerhill Stud has gambled on Galileo winning the European Sires Championship in 2008, and has no fewer than three Galileo’s in its line-up for that sale on the first Sunday in November.
