DARLEY - WOODLANDS Deal Finalised

Following the biggest ever stud farm buyout in history, the Foreign Review Board have given the green light to Darley’s purchase of the Ingham family’s Woodlands Stud for approximately R400 million. The sale will be completed by Friday. Horses previously running in the cerise colours of the Woodlands Stud Syndicate will then race in Sheikh Mohammed’s ownership.

Woodlands’ colours have been carried to success in most of Australia’s greatest races, including the Cox Plate and multiple Golden Slippers. Sung (Anabaa) became perhaps the final feature race winner under the current administration when she fittingly won the Woodlands Crown (1300m) on Saturday.

Despite the sale, Woodlands owner Bob Ingham has flagged his intentions to remain an active player in Australian racing, following a near A$20million buying spree at last month’s Australian Easter Yearling Sale, with his new purchases to be prepared by Chris Waller.
