TALE OF EKATI outguns WAR PASS

Tale Of Ekati (Brandon Benson / NYRA)The Thoroughbred Daily News reports that Tale of Ekati (Tale of the Cat) came through an opening on the rail and outgutted War Pass (Cherokee Run) to land the $750,000 Gr1 Wood Memorial Stakes at Aqueduct yesterday.

It was the second straight victory in the race for trainer Barclay Tagg, who saddled Nobiz Like Shobiz in 2007. “We always thought he was a good horse,” said Barclay Tagg. “He showed up today big time.”  War Pass, softened up early, dug in gamely when headed by Tale of Ekati. “We still have to salute the winner—he ran a big race,” said his trainer Nick Zito.
