SHEIKH MOHAMMED : And on the domestic front His Highness is double fisted

Galant GagnantGalant GagnantAt the 2006 version of the Ready To Run sale, Sheikh Mohammed asked Mike de Kock to buy him a couple of horses that might form part of an entry for the following year’s Emperor’s Palace Ready To Run Cup. While only one of these, Galant Gagnant, was advanced enough to make the cut, he’s been matched, at the races at least, by yet another in the form of Art Of War, who’s now won all of his last three starts, while Galant Gagnant, was pluckily impressive at his last start.

Both of them hold entries at the moment for the R1.2 million S.A. Classic (Gr.1), though Galant Gagnant looks like the most likely to stand his ground there, as we understand Art Of War is being prepared for the Byerley Turk (Gr.3) and then, assuming things work out for him, for a tilt at the old S.A Guineas on the first Saturday in May. Whichever way you look at it, in his South African connections, Sheikh Mohammed is once again spoilt for choice!
