MALHUB lays down his challenge for the Freshman Sire's Championship

Malhub The racing season is starting to get serious again with any number of Classics and multi-million Rand races in the next couple of weeks in Gauteng. The action then moves to Kwazulu Natal for the season’s end Championship events. Meanwhile the Juvenile scene is hotting up too, as one decent horse after another is unveiled, none more impressive at the weekend than Charles Laird’s Exceed and Excel filly, Her Excellency. That apart, we are starting to get a warm feeling ourselves about the debutant crop of MALHUB.

We have already seen a smart winner in CELEBUTANTE, as well as a second place getter in Cape Town, both on debut. Last weekend ROYAL RANSOM showed signs of decency when running into the money in the R250,000 Equimark Stakes on his first visit to the races, and this weekend witnessed another revelation.

DESERT RAIDER stepped out at Durbanville for the first time, against winners what’s more, and ran himself into the money with a promising 3rd. The signs are already good, yet we’d be expecting more of them as the season progresses.

Sorry to keep correcting your grammar/language,BUT the word "less" in the tenth line of this article should read "more".What you have said is,in fact, that Charles Laird's filly was the least impressive of those seen out.I'm sure that's the reverse of what you intended. It's the old problem of a (to use an appropriate Afrikaans phrase) "dubbele negatief".
