THE GREEN MONKEY Retired

The Green Monkey (equinephotoart)The Green Monkey (Forestry), who sold for a world record price of $16 million at Fasig Tipton Calder in 2006, has been retired and will take up stud duty at Randy Hartley and Dean DeRenzo’s Ocala, Florida farm in 2009, according to Daily Racing Form. Campaigned by Michael Tabor, John Magnier and Derrick Smith and trained by Todd Pletcher, the colt missed most of his juvenile season due to a gluteal injury, and made only three starts this term, including a fourth most recently in a maiden on the grass at Hollywood November 21. A stud fee will be announced at a later date.
