The Aussie Sire's Premiership: A Danehill Red Letter Day

Not that much has changed, but a glance at the final Australian Sire’s ranking is confirmation of the wisdom of our betting the farm on the successful sons of Danehill in South Africa.

Danehill : Sire of SiresNine of the top twenty (45%) including a staggering five of the top seven (yes, as well as the Champion Sire, Flying Spur and his runner-up, the redoubtable Redoute’s Choice) are either sons of or Danehill himself.

And yet, only last week, one respected local columnist suggested that the jury may still be out on Danehill’s status as a sire of rises! Given that he’s also already represented by three hot sensations in the Northern Hemisphere (Dansili, Tiger Hill and Rock of Gibraltar) he looks to us, like a the greatest “slam dunk” since buttered bread.

Yet South Africans appear to have completely (almost at least) missed the boat! We thank our stars every day for the presence of Solskjaer & Way West at Summerhill, and within days we will know just have lucky we are as their first foals pop.
