Hlongwane (Gold Circle)In Cape Town, the Dean Kannemeyer-trained Hlongwane (named for the Yearling Prep manager at Summerhill) came home lonely in the first on just his 3^rd racecourse appearance, following two promising efforts which led to knee surgery.

He’d been off 266 days, but that didn’t stop Hlongwane, whom his trainer had labelled a few days before, as likely to need the run. If that was the case, this won’t be the end for this dapper son of Kahal, who’s been a constant source of attention from would-be Mauritian buyers, looking for a bargain during his convalescence.
