STREET CRY'S STAR is in the ascendency

Street SenseStreet SenseAt two different ends of the racing spectrum and two different ends of the earth, the meteoric growth in the influence of emergent American sire, STREET CRY, was very much in evidence. At America’s greatest exhibition of tradition, the Saratoga Spa, Kentucky Derby hero STREET SENSE, warmed up for the mid summer clash of America’s best three year olds, the Trovers Stakes (Gr1), with an emphatic win in the Jim Dandy (Gr2). And while this grandson of MACHIAVELLIAN extols his virtues at the pinnacle of racing’s greatest event, the last race on Clairwood’s All Stars programme, provided yet another illustration of STREET CRY’S class as a stallion.

Eighth StreetEighth Street (Photo Gold Circle)As the car park was emptying following a connoisseur’s day’s racing, EIGHTH STREET made the most auspicious of debuts in an open maiden, sweeping away in the style of a really decent horse in the closing stages.

For Summerhill’s Ready to Run draft, this was a timely boost to what is already shaping up on paper, as by far the best entry the Champion nursery has ever presented. Apart from all its luminaries in the form of brothers and sisters to any number of recent Summerhill Stakes winners and Champions, the farm’s eight imports include a particularly good looking daughter of – yes STREET CRY.
