KAHAL: A Growing Influence

KahalKahal (Photo John Lewis)The season might well have been closing, but Kahal decided it still wasn’t too late to give notice of his intentions for next season. He is already the second ranked sire of Stakes winners for the season, (with his eldest runners just four), and Desert Links very nearly gave him another one in the Dubai Racing Club Derby (Gr2).

Drawn wide & stumbling badly at the start had him racing almost 20 lengths off the pace, yet he came with such a rattle, he got to within a length of the long time leader, Prince Asad, who capped a fine day for Mr. Woodruff.

Remember, neither his biggest earner, Emperor Napoleon, nor Desert Links are among Kahal’s Stakes winners for the season, so his tally is all the more meritorious, and this young stallion has repeatedly done justice to Mike de Kock’s often-quoted statement that he’s up there with the best in the land.
