Charles Laird not going quite as short any longer

charles lairdCharles LairdLeading trainer Charles Laird underwent knee replacement surgery in Durban two days after the National Sales, and we’re happy to report that this former SA Schools quick bowler is no longer going quite as “short” as we’ve known him in recent years.

Predictions are that he’ll be back at work next Monday, a testimony to the marvel of technology in the medical world. Charles confirmed that his charge, Summerhill-bred Rebel King, will be taking his place in the line-up for the Golden Horse Casino Sprint Gr1 at Scottville’s Festival of Speed on 27th May.

rebel kingRebel KingGiven the disparity of only 2 lengths at their last meeting in the Computaform Sprint Gr1, Rebel King’s 56.5 kg allotment makes him a serious contender for the honours, notwithstanding the presence of the mighty and unbeaten Mythical Flight who is set to concede him some 3.5 kgs.

A moment to savour, if ever there was one.
