Mixed day for South Africans

Jeff LloydJeff Lloyd (metcalfebs)Sydney racing’s two most recent South African imports experienced the opposite ends of racing’s spectrum at Wyong yesterday. For Jeff Lloyd, another pair of wins added impetus to his new career.

But compatriot Glyn Schofield had one to forget when his mount Miss Bax fell in the sixth race. Schofield tumbled along the track for several metres, but was immediately on his feet, suffering little more than bruising. Lloyd, who has made a good impression since moving to Australia a few months ago scored on 50-1 chance Convair owned by well-known racing photographer Steve Hart in the Paul Nancarrow Hcp. He backed up with victory in the final race on Harlem Heat.
