Dubai update Part 2
Thursday, January 25, 2007 at 09:09PM Dubai update written ... but the typical late night browse of The Sporting Post revealed another couple of interesting statistics about tonight's race meeting that I overlooked earlier in the day:
Race 3 - the USD120,000 Attijari Phone Cup (1300m, turf). The track record (0.05298) is held by a South African - National Icon; record set on 10 March 2005.
Race 4: the USD30,000 Shahrazade Trophy (1400m, dirt). The track record time of 01:21:18 set on 11 February 1999 is held by none other than Summerhill encumbent - and successful sire - Kahal.
Amazing what you find when you start browsing the small print !

Great Rhythm may take up the invite to run in the Futurity Stakes at Caulfield in Australia on March 3 after he took tonight’s Asian Racing Federation Stakes.
In a new initiative this season, the winner receives an invitation - together with travel subsidies - to run in the first leg of the 2007 Asian Mile Challenge.
Trainer Herman Brown said: “It’s a possibility. We will see how he comes out of the race and have a look at the programme in Dubai, before making a decision.”
The South African raider left it late in claiming the $175,000 prize, just denying King Jock, who has already been invited to run in the Group 1 contest Down Under.
Great Rhythm is one of Herman Brown’s stable stars having won the Gr 3 Matchem Stakes then placing 3rd in last year’s Gr 1 J & B Met in South Africa. Tonight was the 5 year old’s sixth career win.
