New track record set at Clairwood

It may well have been a 1200m maiden at Clairwood but all eyes were on Wonder Lawn, the record priced R3.3 million yearling from last year’s National Sale. Alas the result didn’t quite match the expectations but nothing can be taken away from the winner - Whispering Wood - who set a new maiden juvenile class record for the 1200m.

Summerhill bred ODYSSEUS (NATIONAL EMBLEM – GREET THE GREEK)  ran 3rd beating Wonder Lawn (who ran 5th) by 3 lengths.

The winning time was 69.98 and Odysseus’ was only three quarters of a length behind the winner. An exciting future ahead for this horse one suspects …

Congratulations to the connections of all horses.
