International stats on Ready to Run horses

An interesting piece appeared in the Thoroughbred Daily News on 21st July. Tom Morley, a Flying Star student reports on 2YO sale results worldwide.  He states:

 "Two-year old sales, decades old in this country [the USA], are relatively new in Europe, having been around for around 30 years. Of the 765 stakes run in this country between January and June, nearly 18 percent have been won by graduates of a two year old sale. Of the 178 graded stakes runs in that period, 21 percent were won by a 2yo graduate, including four Grade 1 winners. While European two-year old sales were represented by its first Group 1 winner (Speciosa-English 100 Guineas), there lacks a promoting body on that continent, something that could serve the 2yo market well."
