Let's Rock'n Roll Wins Gr1 Golden Horse Sprint

3YO colt Let’s Rock’n Roll (Muhtafal-First Arrival, by Northern Guest) defeated his older rivals to score a 1.25-lengths victory in last weekend’s Gr1 Golden Horse Sprint (1200m) at Scottsville to notch his sixth win in 11 tries Zimbabwe-bred Let’s Rock’n Roll (ridden by Randall Simons for trainer Paul Matchett) defeated favourite What A Question (Qui Danzig-Waseela, by Ahonoora) & Vega (Jallad-Venetian Lily, by Argosy). Bred by Hallmark Thoroughbreds, Let’s Rock’n Roll now has 6 wins from 11 starts (including 5 victories in his initial 7 runs) for R495,318 earnings.

Let’s Rock’n Roll gives Muthafal his second Group One winner for the season, following Mercury Sprint winner Disappear. Conceived at Summerhill Stud, but foaled across the border, Let’s Rock’n Roll is the first foal of Northern Guest’s daughter First Arrival, Zimbawbe’s champion three-year-old filly in 1999. Winner of the W Store Oaks (G3), she is a half-sister to Tibouchina Stakes winner Clifton Queen (Plugged Nickle). Her second foal, Beat Patrol, also by Muhtafal, recently won his maiden at the Vaal in impressive fashion. She has a yearling filly by Slew The Red.

For those who like to watch pedigrees, you may be interested to note that Muhtafal’s Grade 3 winners Side By Side and The Waltz are also from Northern Guest mares.
